My Book Obsession
Late last year, I read an article on the Op-Ed page of the Wall Street Journal written by former White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove.
It was fascinating and presented an automatic challenge to me. Rove and then-President Bush had an ongoing, annual wager to see if they both could read one book a week in any one year.
Now, love them or revile them, think about this for a minute. The Leader of The Free World and His Pretty Doggone Important Chief of Staff taking time during their busy (and how!) weeks to read. I love it! Good for them!
So I immediately pledged that I would give it a try too. So far in '09 I'm on schedule. One thing I've noticed about this effort is that no matter how much I love to read (and y'all know that such has always been a very important and treasured thing to me), to accomplish this goal, I have to stay after it constantly and plan reading time. And by doing so, I am re-discovering and reinforcing the grand benefits of Organization and Time Management.
My planned reading is making me a Better Lawyer!
(Hint: ALWAYS Have a Book with you-You never know when you can grab a few minutes.)
I'll keep you posted on my progress but here's where I am so far:

(OK, I even read Facebook too...)
My suggestion to you-
